People's Choice Awards Competition
Contest Details

NOTE:  Thursday night’s show includes Yellow Rose of Texas People’s Choice Award Competition for all Tribal/Alternative  categories.  Friday night’s show includes Yellow Rose of Texas People’s Choice Award Competition for all Cabaret categories.  There is no "entry" fee; but all dance contestants must be registered in one full day of dance workshops per night of competition, all accompanying musicians must be registered in two (2) workshops (drum, musicality, or zills), and registration must be verified before the Yaa Halla, Y’all Program goes to the printer.

PERFORMER REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED

IMPORTANT ACCOUNCEMENT:

The 2010 Yaa Halla, Y'all Competitions will be entirely and only held on Thursday and Friday nights.  There will be no Saturday Competition.  All Winners in each category will be recognized and will perform in the Saturday night Yellow Rose of Texas Showcase of Winners.

Cabaret

Professional Cabaret Solo (experienced)
Rising Star Cabaret Solo (non-professional)
Duet/Trio Cabaret
Troupe Cabaret (4 dancers or more)

FRIDAY NIGHT COMPETITION

Category Requirements

Tribal/Alternative Solo - Any length of time dancing, and costuming and dance style must be non-cabaret

Tribal/Alternative Duet/Trio - Any length of time dancing, and costuming and dance style must be non-cabaret

Tribal/Alternative Troupe (4 dancers or more) - Any length of time dancing, and costuming and dance style must be non-cabaret

Professional Cabaret Solo - 5 years or more experience in dance, and/or teacher and/or paid professional, restaurant performer, and costuming and dance style must be Cabaret

Rising Star Cabaret Solo - Under 5 years experience in dance and/or pre-professional, non-restaurant performer, a non-teacher, and costuming and dance style must be Cabaret

Duet/Trio Cabaret - Any length of time dancing, and costuming and dance style must be Cabaret

Troupe Cabaret (4 dancers or more)- Any length of time dancing, and costuming and dance style must be Cabaret

The times allowed for the Yellow Rose of Texas People's Choice Award
performances for ALL CATEGORIES are:

Solo:  4 to 5 minutes --  Duet/Trio: Up to 5 minutes  --  Troupe (4 or more dancers): Up to 8 minutes

Thursday Competition Prizes:
Tribal/Alternative Solo - $500.00
Tribal/Alternative Troupe - $500.00
Tribal/Alternative Duet/Trio - $300.00

        First Place Winners are invited, and should be prepared, to perform their winning performance
as special guest dancers in Saturday Night's Show of the Stars!
(All competition requirements & rules apply for Saturday performances)

First Place Winners will be awarded a trophy and additional prizes, PLUS  be acknowledged in an upcoming issue of The Belly Dance Chronicles Magazine.

There will be a show of Stars Thursday & Friday while the votes are tallied.

All voting for the Yellow Rose of Texas People's Choice Awards will be done by the audience members.

Ballots will be handed out at the beginning of each show each night.

Only audience members who are present for the beginning of each show will be eligible to vote!!!
