Sarafina

Sarafina, one of the founding members of The Wings of Isis, has been involved in Middle Eastern Dance since 1996.  She has taught classes at her local YMCA and local fitness and recreation centers to bring awareness to the community of the Middle Eastern dance form.  She excels in helping students of all ages and sizes who have never danced a day in their life to have fun dancing!

Sarafina first began dancing at the age of three.  In addition to the Middle Eastern dance form her dancing experience includes ballet, tap and jazz.  In addition to performing with the Wings of Isis at various dance concerts, festivals, nursing homes and fund raising events, Sarafina also dances at Scarborough Renaissance Festival, local restaurants including Byblos Lebanese Restaurant where she is a house dancer and private functions.  Sarafina has studied with many of the top Middle Eastern dancers including Amaya, Aziza, Karen Barbee, Shareen El Safy, Fahtiem, Hadia, Raqia Hassan, Isis, Jasmin Jahal, Morocco, Margo Abdo O'Dell, Suhaila Salimpour, Amir Thaleb, Vashti and Virginia just to name a few

Sarafina's specialties include cane, sword, veil, wings, zills and audience participation.  She is graceful and fluid due to her ballet background.  She has been told she looks like an angel while dancing.  She has also been told more than once by people who have both traveled to and lived in the Middle East that she was the best dancer they have ever seen!

Sarafina is also a board member of  NTMEDA,  the North Texas Middle Eastern Dance Association.

Sarafina can been seen performing on Friday and Saturday nights at Cafe Istanbul.
