LimMaya started bellydance lessons in 1985, just five months after the birth of RoseMaya. Her first public performance (after saying, "I will never dance in public,") was 14 months later and she received her first pay of $10! The dance allows her a personal freedom that is wonderful to enjoy in today's busy world. After moving to Texas in 1986, LimMaya attended classes with Bobbye Dee, joining the Star Dancer Troupe when Bobbye moved to Austin. She has danced at Scarborough Faire, Hawkwood, Texas State Fair, Oktoberfest, and numerous other Star Dancer Productions. LimMaya is a certified teacher of all dance classes, specializing in beginners. She helped plan our first Men's Bellydance class and is a Professional Mid-Eastern and Polynesian Dancer. Her husband, Nicholas, is our Star Dancer Photographer. Her daughters, RoseMaya (a Performer Star Dancer) and KataMaya (a Star Dancer) are also dancers with our group with their brother Alexander being very patient with them all and a great help! |
