Amir Thaleb was born in Mar del Plata. His grandparents were of Syrian descent and he dedicated himself to dance since he was a young child. His father, being a well-recognized professional dancer, was his first teacher. He then studied with professors from Lebanon and Egypt while he explored other disciplines such as classical ballet and international folklore, with the most important teachers from all over the world.

Mr. Thaleb has been a dancer and choreographer for over twenty years. He has traveled to many countries around the world with great success, including shows in Brazil which were supported and sponsored by Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas.

For over five years he was contracted in Mexico and was an invited performer and special guest of the Honduran government. He has also been invited to Spain and Greece. In Egypt he was invited by the Academy of the Arts Cairo and the Opera House of Cairo. In the United States he has worked as a workshop teacher, choreographer, and director with the Mid-Eastern Dance Exchange in Miami, Florida. He has also conducted successful workshops in both Seattle and New York, along with countless workshops throughout South America. As a special guest performer invited to the 2nd International Conference on Middle Eastern Dance in California, he danced along side the "Stars of Egypt", Nagua Foad with workshop presenters Mahmoud Reda and Faride Fahmy. Amir has also participated in TV shows in the United States on UNIVISION and NBC, along with countless appearances in South America.

In the last several years Amir has dedicated himself with a passion to the investigation and the study of the history and the technique of "bellydance". His efforts have also been highly concentrated to his teachings in his school, his Arabian Ballet Company, and to producing highly acclaimed shows, events, and theater productions. He and his school are a highly respected institution in his country.

Taking advantage of his knowledge of psychology, metaphysics, and mysticism, Amir has rescued the spiritual sense of this dance. He has won the admiration of diverse and even difficult public audiences. His presence on the stage is magical and sensual with the charisma of an experienced showman.

Amir Thaleb started his career with the objective to lift this dance to the highest artistic spheres and to transmit his knowledge with the simplest and most concrete form. He has also written a book, edited in two versions, with great success, entitled La Milenaria Danza del Vientre, el lenguaje oculto. He has been rewarded and recognized by the Arabic community with the "Ugarit" and "Kalil Gibran" awards and was acclaimed for his artistic trajectory by UNESCO. He has most recently won the GIZA Award for "Best New Artist in a Video".

Amir Thaleb simply is "The Spirit of the Dance".
