The Moorish design followed after the Persian, has a variation in both design and tone. Moors took them to Spain where castanets originated. High pitch tone, ideal for nightclubs and crowded parties. Available in light or heavy gauge. 2 3/16" diameter.

This particular design is said to be the third oldest. Adopted by Ottoman Turks, who later changed the design by raising the rims. Medium-high tone, an excellent blend with Arabic music. Available in light or heavy gauge. 2 3/16" diameter.
