Karen Barbee - Sunday - 9:00am-11:30am  - Red Hot Raqs Sharqi Room - 'Listen for a Reason to Linger' - We've all heard the saying "Stop and smell the roses." We know what it means. We don't REALLY have to wait for just roses to act on the idea. It's about a deliberate choice to savor a moment or event. As I've spent decades racing through my dances (to substantial accolades no less, reinforcing the behavior.... eek!) - and watching others do the same - I've often thought about "slowing down". But it's not easy to do unless I hear a musical cue that evokes (or at least rationalizes) the behavior. Finding those cues - in ANY piece of music - is a learnable and developable skill. I have LOTS of examples from LOTS of different pieces of music across LOTS of genres. We'll build some tempo-based, jamming combinations and then listen for and FIND those reasons to get wrapped up in a note, a beat, a moment, an ornament, whatever it takes!! Hearing music this way will make any dance product more interesting - choreographed or improvised.

Kaeshi Chai - Sunday - 9:00am-11:30am  - Fiery Fusion Room - 'Fantastic Fans' - Fascinated by fans but don't know how to use them? Then come and discover how the beauty of fan dancing can enhance your ability to mesmerize an audience. Kaeshi will teach you different hand holds, dramatic accents, poses you can strike, travel steps, plus a myriad of bellydance movements that work well with traditional Chinese fan technique. Please bring your own fans to the workshop. Don't own fans? Then check the following links: https:a.co/d/9EVcg5s and https://a.co/d/9enFlkK

Doug Adamz - Sunday - 9:00am-11:30am  - Blazing Beats Room - 'Magical Musicality' - We will be learning songs from the Light Rain repertoire, perhaps to perform at the show on Saturday and Sunday evenings. Please bring the musical instrument(s) that you have some familiarity with. We will create and ensemble! Using Scales, Rhythms and Form, we can explore creating new music composition and improv in the support of DANCE.

Frank Farinaro - Sunday - 11:45am- 1:15pm  - Sizzling Samples mini class - 'FUNKLORIC FUSION' - In this workshop, we learn how some of the folkloric dance and music styles of the distant past still exist today in some of the most modern dance clubs, festivals, and resorts! While adopting newer elements of musicality and movement-influence, these modern interpretations remain proudly true to their cultural roots. After exploring some familiar and remixed movement combinations, these popular moves from today's dance scenes will build into a fun choreography to a banging dance hit!

Sadie - Sunday - 1:30pm- 4:00pm  - Red Hot Raqs Sharqi Room - 'Classic Choreography' - Bring a veil! This classic choreography features dynamic poses, lyrical spins and turns, fancy footwork, rhythmic shimmies and staccato body isolations. No matter your style, there is something for everyone in this workshop.

Ebony Qualls - Sunday - 1:30pm- 4:00pm - Fiery Fusion Room - 'Joyful Movement Experience' - Let's tap into having fun and feeling good by practicing a unique spin on contemporary belly dance. We'll play with combinations which fuse modern urban styles found in hip hop, retro funk styles such as locking, and the timeless art of raqs sharqi. Let's build coordination, work on isolating movements, and expand our dance styles with fun travel steps. This workshop will be high energy, prepare to sweat and have fun. Dance shoes recommended, but not required.
